1. The 3 sites in detail
1.1 Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Big Cableway)
The main peak, Shanzidou, reaches 5,596 m — China's southernmost snow mountain. Visitors take the Big Cableway (China's longest alpine cable car, 3.5 km) up to "Glacier Park" at 4,506 m, where a 200 m boardwalk brings you face-to-face with the glacier. Yunnan's most beautiful peak and a real high-altitude experience.
1.2 Blue Moon Valley
On Jade Dragon's eastern flank at 2,950 m. The lake water glows brilliant blue-green (like a "blue moon") — snowmelt loaded with minerals. A 4 km lakeside walk or shuttle takes in four cascading lakes (Yuye, Jingtan, Lanyue, Tingtao).
1.3 Spruce Meadow (Yunshanping)
3,250 m alpine meadow on the eastern flank. In Naxi legend, lovers leapt from here to be reunited in the next life. Primeval spruce forest + Tibetan herders + snow-mountain reflections.

3. Impression Lijiang outdoor show
Co-directed by Zhang Yimou, Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue; premiered in 2006. 500 Naxi villagers perform in an open-air theatre at 3,100 m, with the actual snow peak as backdrop. 70 minutes, themed around the Naxi, Bai, and Tibetan ethnic traditions. The world's highest-altitude live-scene show.

5. Best season
- April–June, September–November: most comfortable weather.
- November–February: peak snow on the mountain + Blue Moon Valley with ice patterns.
- June–September: cloud can hide the peak — no guaranteed view.
6. Altitude warning
Jade Dragon at 4,506 m is firmly in altitude-sickness territory. Around 30% of visitors react:
- The tour includes oxygen canisters;
- Breathe slowly on the cable car;
- No strenuous activity;
- Heart conditions: don't go;
- If you have a cold, don't enter.
