1. What it is

Opened in 2014 with a ¥20 billion build cost from Guangdong's Chimelong Group, this is the Guinness-recorded world's largest ocean theme park. At 132 hectares it is six times the size of Hong Kong Ocean Park, and houses both the world's largest aquarium (48.79 million litres of water) and the world's largest acrylic viewing window (39.6 m × 8.3 m).

The park holds over 50,000 marine animals, including nine of the world's rarest: whale shark, polar bear, killer whale, penguin, beluga, walrus, seal, sea lion and dolphin. Five animal shows daily, plus major rides and a nightly fireworks show.

• From Hong Kong: HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge bus → Zhuhai port → free 30-min shuttle to Chimelong.

• Hengqin Port: walk + shuttle, 15 min to Chimelong.
