1. What it is

Opened in 2009, this is OCT Group's fourth Happy Valley (after Shenzhen — the original). 860,000 sqm split across six themed lands: Sunshine Harbour, Happy Time, Shanghai Beach, Hurricane Bay, Happy World, and Maya Adventure. The flagship ride is Diretop — China's first 7-loop inverting roller coaster.

Versus Shanghai Disneyland: Happy Valley is about thrill rides (more coasters, drop towers, log flumes); Disneyland is about story and IP (Mickey, Marvel, Frozen). Two completely different vibes — and Happy Valley is half the price.

5. Best time to visit

• April–June, September–October: most pleasant weather.
• July–August: crowded but Manga City night park runs latest.
• Avoid: weekends and public holidays — top rides hit 90-min queues.
• Best day: Tuesday or Wednesday.

6. Manga City Night Park (summer only)

Every May–October the Manga City night park runs 17:00–21:30:

• Exclusive fireworks at 20:30;
• EDM party (Maya Plaza);
• Glow-in-the-dark float parade;
• Ambient lighting installations;
• But some big rides close at 21:00.

The night ticket at ¥199 (Klook ¥165) is ¥100 cheaper than the day ticket. If you only want the night vibe and a few rides, it's outstanding value.

7. How to get there

• Metro: Line 9 "Songjiang South Railway Station" Exit 3, then a free 15-min shuttle to the park.
• From the city: ~1 hour on Line 9 from Lujiazui.
• Didi / taxi: ¥200 from downtown.
• Driving: on-site parking ¥30/day.

• Pre-book on Klook: ¥50 off day tickets;
• Choose night ticket: save ¥80;
• 2-day ticket: works out to ¥190/day;
• Children under 1.0 m free;
• 1.0–1.4 m half price;

9. Practical tips

• Bring: power bank, sun protection, rain poncho (the rapids will get you wet), light jacket (cool at night).
• Height limits: Diretop 1.5 m+, Wooden Wing 1.4 m+, Drop Tower 1.4 m+.
• Not allowed: outside food, glass containers, pets.
• Lockers: ¥30/day + ¥50 deposit.
• Use the Happy Valley app: real-time queue times.
• Bad weather: thunderstorms shut down some rides.
