1. What it is

Opened in January 2024, this is South China's largest indoor ski centre — 60,000 sqm, the equivalent of eight football pitches. The longest run is 320 m, with a maximum gradient of 30°. Five slopes of different difficulty, from a "Penguin Park" for kids to a black-diamond run for experienced skiers.

Its real selling point is the shortest cross-border distance: from Hong Kong's Lo Wu, take Metro Line 11 → Line 1 → Line 12 — about 1.5 hours door-to-door. Hong Kong has no ski centre at all, so Huafa Snow Bonski is the nearest place to ski on real snow. Monthly searches in the HK region run 3,100 — one of Shenzhen's hottest new attractions of the past two years.

2. The five slopes

  1. Penguin Park — beginners and kids only, 100 m gentle.
  2. Blue (beginner) — 150 m at 10° gradient.
  3. Red (intermediate) — 220 m at 20°.
  4. Black (advanced) — 320 m at 30°, the longest.
  5. Half-pipe + park (freestyle area) — kickers and rails for tricks.

4. Gear rental

All passes include gear rental: ski jacket and pants, skis (twin-tip or snowboard, your choice), poles, helmet, goggles, and ski boots. Gloves and thermal base layers must be brought from home or bought on site (¥50–80).

Gearing up takes 30–40 minutes (queue + fitting). Arrive 1.5 hours before your session.

5. Beginner advice

  1. Buy the 4-hour pass + a 1-hour lesson (¥368 total);
  2. Hour 1: instructor covers balance and stopping;
  3. Hours 2–3: practice on Penguin Park or the Blue slope;
  4. Hour 4: try the Red slope.

One 4-hour first session is enough to ride the slope steadily; to actually look good, expect 2–3 sessions of practice.

6. Best time to visit

  • Weekdays 10:00–14:00: lightest crowds, slopes nearly to yourself.
  • Weekends after 18:00: busier but the best vibe (night-park lighting).
  • Avoid: weekends 14:00–18:00 (slopes packed); Spring Festival and summer school break.

7. How to get there

  • Metro: Line 12, "Huafa City" Exit D, 5-min walk.
  • From Hong Kong: Lo Wu → Line 1 → Line 11 → Line 12, ~1.5 h.
  • Didi / taxi: ~¥80 from downtown.

8. How to save money

  • Pre-book on Klook: ¥30 off the 4-hour pass;
  • Choose 6-hour: meal voucher saves ~¥50;
  • Pick a weekday: weekend tickets add ¥50;
  • Group of 3+: an additional 10% off;
  • Children under 1.0 m free.

9. Practical tips

  • Bring: warm gloves (essential), thermal base layers, a towel.
  • Wear: long socks (boots will rub otherwise).
  • Not allowed: outside food on the slope (locker rooms are fine).
  • Height limit: minimum 1.0 m to rent gear.
  • Injury insurance: ¥30/day on site — strongly recommended.
  • Phones: bring a waterproof pouch onto the slope for photos.
