Shenzhen vs Shanghai Happy Valley?

Both run by OCT, similar themes. Shenzhen is the original (opened 1998); Shanghai is newer (2009) and a bit larger. If you're already in Shenzhen, just go to Shenzhen — there's no reason to make the trip to Shanghai for it.

1. What it is

Opened in 1998, this was OCT Group's first Happy Valley — followed by Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Chongqing and Tianjin (seven parks in total). 350,000 sqm split into nine themed lands: Sunshine Coast, Cartoon City, Vintage Avenue, Maya Culture, Jungle, Space Magic, Circus, Happy Times and Shangri-La.

Its headline ride is Snow Mountain Eagle — China's first continuous 7-loop coaster, top speed 105 km/h. Happy Valley Shenzhen pioneered the home-grown Chinese theme park, but at 28 years old some of the older sets feel dated. Younger visitors might prefer Shenzhen's Window of the World or the newer OH Bay.
